What You Need
- Watermelon: Pick a ripe, seedless watermelon to make prep even faster.
- Blueberries: Choose fresh blueberries that are firm to the touch and not mushy.
- Feta Cheese: Use plain feta packed in brine, then crumble or cube it before tossing it in.
- Mint: Use fresh mint leaves rather than dried mint.
- Lime: Squeeze the juice of half of a lime over the salad. You can also grate the zest and add that to give the salad more of a bright flavor.
How to Pick a Sweet Watermelon
Watermelons can be hard to tell if they are ripe or not. Luckily, there are a few tricks to pick a delicious watermelon.
- Tap it with your knuckle; it should sound hollow if it’s ready to eat.
- Look for a yellow ‘field spot’. This is where the watermelon was lying in the field. If it looks green or white, it hasn’t ripened fully.
- Pick one with a firm rind without soft spots and blemishes.
- The watermelon should feel heavy for its size, which means it’s juicy.
Optional Variations
Want to tweak it a little? Try these simple additions:
- Oil: Mix lime juice with olive oil for a light vinaigrette.
- Honey: Stir in a little honey if your fruit isn’t sweet enough.
- Salt: A pinch of salt helps the flavors pop.

How to Make it
- Scoop the watermelon into balls with a melon baller, or just cut it into chunks. Place it in a large bowl.
- Wash the blueberries. Add them to the watermelon.
- Crumble the feta or cut it into squares. Add it to the fruit.
- Halve the lime. If the lime feels very firm, microwave it on high for about 15 seconds to release the juice. Drizzle the lime juice over the fruit and cheese.
- Tear the mint into random-sized pieces and add it to the salad.
- Gently toss everything together.

Watermelon Blueberry Feta Salad
Ingredients
- 2 cups watermelon
- 1 cup blueberries
- ¾ cup feta cheese
- 1 lime
- 2 teaspoons mint leaves
Instructions
- Wash the blueberries. Let them drain for a couple of minutes, while you cut the watermelon.
- Halve the watermelon. Use a melon baller tool to cut the watermelon into balls. If you don't own a melon baller, cut the watermelon into random-sized chunks or squares.
- Add the watermelon and blueberries to a large bowl.
- Crumble the feta cheese and add it to the bowl
- Chop the mint or tear it between your fingers and add it to the bowl.
- If the lime is very hard, microwave it for about 15 seconds to release the juices. After microwaving, roll the lime on the counter with the palm of your hand. You will feel it soften. Cut the lime in half and sprinkle the juice over the salad.
- It's best to serve the salad within half an hour so the watermelon don't lose too much juice.
