Cucumber Water Recipe
This Cucumber Water Recipe is amazingly easy and really good for you in so many ways! Spruce it up with lemon, lime, orange, berries or a variety of herbs!

The beauty of this Cucumber Water Recipe is that you can customize it to your specific tastes! I have used a variety of herbs and fruits to change the flavor of each batch! All of the citrus and strawberry and raspberry are my favorite!

What is cucumber water?
A simple question, and one you would think would be clear by the name, cucumber water is regular tap water, or carbonated plain water that is infused with cucumber and whatever ever other flavor you would like. Cucumber water goes by several other names though, spa water, cucumber detox water, or simply infused water. A fancy spa will sell a very expensive glass, when you could just make it at home!
If you have looked at the shelves of your local grocer, or convenient store, lately, they are loaded now with bottled water that is infused with a variety of different fruits and vegetables, most of which, are chemicals additives, like, “artificial lemon flavoring”. There is no reason to spend your hard earned money on these beverages, when you can make your own, at home, with no added sugars, preservatives, or anything else, for that matter!
Cucumber water takes less than 10 minutes of your time and is great to have on hand!

Why should I drink cucumber water?
Cucumber Water is a healthy, delicious alternative to sugary drinks! Sugary drinks are one of the main culprits of the obesity epidemic in the United States, and world wide. Some sugary sodas are more than half, by weight, sugar! Adding cucumbers and fruits and herbs to your water, makes you more likely to grab for the water, instead of sugar laden or caffeinated beverages!
While many websites would have you believing that all of the great health benefits of cucumbers are transferred to cucumber water, I would be skeptical of that. It is true that cucumbers are a good source of potassium, magnesium and vitamins C, K, B’s and A, and others. The fact is that many of those chemicals are not water soluble, meaning they will not dissolve in the cucumber water. To get the most benefit from the cucumber, including the fiber, you must eat it raw.

So what are the health benefits of cucumber water?
The most important health benefit of drinking fruit flavored waters, including cucumber water, is hydration. Having the proper hydration has been shown to help the body in numerous ways, see this article by Medical News Today. Among those are;
- Assists with weight loss
- Helps alleviate dry skin
- Lubricates joints
- Helps maintain healthy blood pressure /potentially lower high blood pressure
- Carries oxygen to all parts of the body
- Benefits the digestive system and bowels
- Regulates body temperature
- Prevents kidney damage
- Assists with the production of saliva
- Lubricates airways
and more
How long will it last in the refrigerator?
Cucumber water will last about 3-4 days, if refrigerated. I usually remove the cucumber slices after 12-24 hours and discard them. They have done all of the work they are going to do. And they may start to break apart and discolor your water.
How to make it
- Slice organic cucumbers thin. Use about 1/2 of medium cucumber per gallon of water.
- Fill container with water of your choice.
- Add slices of cucumber to infusing tube, if you have one. Otherwise, just float the cucumbers in the water in a large pitcher. Add other fruits or herbs, if desired.

Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Overnight is even better. Serve plain or with ice.
This cucumber water is so refreshing! It is perfect to rehydrate after a workout, or any time, really.
