Spicy Fish Sandwich & Jalapeño Cole Slaw
Don’t you just love easy meals? If you’ve been reading along with my little blog for any length of time, you know that we love our fish and seafood! Eric fishes a lot in the Spring and Fall, but in his old age, he has decided that he doesn’t like ice fishing as much as he once did! By the time January comes, we are pretty much out of fresh fish! Gorton’s Beer Battered Fillets to the rescue!
Now we can still incorporate fish in our diets, even in the middle of winter! And, honestly, it couldn’t be easier to incorporate fish into your diet with Gorton’s! And for all you Catholics out there, Lent is fast approaching!
The spicy aioli and spicy cole slaw are both made with my candied jalapeños! (If you haven’t noticed we are slightly obsessed with them of late!)
You can find these Gorton’s Beer Battered Fillets at Walmart! Conveniently located in the freezer aisle! This fish is 100% pollock fillets!
If you have mandolin to cut the cabbage, (or use precut from Walmart’s produce aisle) you can have this entire meal ready for the table in 25 minutes!
Did you know the American Heart Association recommends eating fish twice a week? Gorton’s Beer Battered Fish Fillets are 100% wild caught pollock! You can learn more on Gorton’s website, or their Facebook page

This recipe with added with a little Ranch dressing instead of a full cup of mayonnaise is FREAKIN Delicious.

Even if we do have fresh fish in the winter, sometimes is easier to buy ready one and beer batter sounds like a treat. I love your combination of aioli and candy jalapeno. I need to make it as well.

Oh my that is a towering sandwich, sounds lovely though and well worth getting messy over 😀 Ice fishing is typically very popular here but we are in the middle of the mildest winter we have seen in our 10 years here and no fear of any ice on our local lake 😮
Binky
That’s funny Brian! We’ve had the coldest winter we’ve had in 10 years! Thanks so much for your comment! Totally worth getting messy over!

I absolutely love how you took those fish filets to the next level!! That is a sandwich that I would gladly eat every Friday during Lent! I’m the oddball that always got the fish sandwich at MacDonalds instead of a hamburger!
Binky

Thanks so much, Elaine! If you don’t add a lot of the jalapeno, it won’t be too spicy for C either. Eric likes it.
