These air Fryer Hot Dogs take less than 10 minutes, even if they are frozen! The fastest way to make a juicy hot dog ever!

    One weiner topped with condiments.

It’s hard to get a good quality, juicy grilled hot dog in the winter. We always use to make boiled hot dogs. They lack that crispy exterior texture. You can always fry them but then you have to add some fat to them.

Even in the summer, you have to wait for the grill to heat up.

The solution my friends? Your air fryer! No mess, no added fat that pan fried dogs require, no waiting for the grill to heat up. This will be your favorite way to cook an incredibly juicy hot dog that has a great grilled texture any time of the year.

Five assorted hot dogs on rolls.

    What you need

    • hot dogs
    • hot dog buns
Ingredients to make them; hot dogs, rolls.

    Optional toppings

    • chili
    • baked beans
    • cheese
    • chopped onions
    • sauerkraut
    • ketchup, mustard or relish

How to make these easy air fryer hot dogs

    1. Preheat air fryer to 400°F for a minute or two. Place hot dogs on air fryer rack.
    2. Air fry for 4-5 minutes.
    3. Flip hot dogs. Place them in rolls. Continue to air fry an additional 3-4 minutes until done to your liking.
Process of making air fryer hot dogs. See details in recipe below.

    Why you’ll love these

    • Ridiculously easy.
    • The taste and texture are more like grilled hot dogs.
    • Only two ingredients needed.
    • Less than 10 minutes for a delicious lunch or dinner the whole family can enjoy.
    • Economical
    • Kid friendly
    • They turn out incredibly juicy with a perfect exterior texture.
    • Cook your roll in the air fryer after the first flip and they will be nice and toasted too.
    • Perfect for last minute for dinner since you can cook the hot dogs from frozen!
Hand reaching for loaded hot dog.

    Pro tips for your success

    • Use your favorite brand of high quality hot dogs.
    • If your brand has a tendency to burst, you can put a few slits in the top to avoid that.
    • You can cook the hot dog buns directly in the air fryer with the hot dogs.
    • For easy cleanup, line your air fryer with tin foil if your manufacturer suggests it’s use in your air fryer.
    • Hot dogs can be cooked from fresh or from frozen. Frozen ones will take another minute or two.

NOTE: Cooking times will vary according to two different factors. The size of your hot dogs and the wattage of your air fryer. Larger hot dogs like our local Zweigles brand are the fat ones. They may take another minute or two. Smaller, thinner hot dogs like Oscar Mayer or Nathan’s will take less time (probably about 8 minutes total).

    Notes

    Air fryer notes
Different air fryers cook with different wattages. Some air fryers have a set temperature control, that can not be changed! My air fryer is the Cuisinart TO-60A. It has a temperature control setting, so for this recipe, I set the temperature at 400°F.
Depending on your Air Fryer, the times, in particular, may vary from mine! When you are learning how to use your air fryer, make sure you keep a vigilant eye on your food! The air fryer cooks so much faster than traditional cooking methods, it is easy to let food go too long and burn it!
Once you get the knack of your particular air fryer, you will be able to approximately gauge the timing of whatever you are cooking!
    Optional suggested toppings
    • chili
    • baked beans
    • cheese
    • chopped onions
    • sauerkraut
    • ketchup, mustard or relish
    Pro tips

    • You can cook the hot dog buns directly in the air fryer with the hot dogs.
    • For easy cleanup, line your air fryer with tin foil if your manufacturer suggests it’s use in your air fryer.
    • Hot dogs can be cooked from fresh or from frozen. Frozen ones will take another minute or two.

Is there anything the Air Fryer cannot do?! This is awesome and way better than the method I grew up on of just sticking them in the microwave.

Oh, for sure. Or I grew up boiling them on the stove. These are so much better! Thanks Jess!

I have to dust my air fryer off to give these hotdogs a try! I love how simple they are to make right in the air fryer.
