Deep Dish Breakfast Pizza
This deep dish Breakfast Pizza is an easy weeknight dinner that the whole family will love. This ham and cheese pizza is a great addition to weekly meals.

I opted to add apples. They added a nice sweetness and paired beautifully with the cheese and the ham!
Origins of Pizza
As with many food stories, it is not an easy question to answer definitively. It really depends on your definition. The pizza that we are most farmiliar with today, covered with tomato sauce and cheese, was, in fact, born in Naples, Italy.
But if you think of pizza as a flatbread, of course, those date back to the Middle East. Also, focaccia that is topped with olive oil and other ingredients dates back to the Greek and Roman Empires. The first pizza shop in the US was in NYC and opened in 1905!

What you need
- pizza dough
- sliced deli ham
- cheddar cheese or American cheese
- mozzarella cheese
- slice apples – optional but tasty
- large eggs
Optional ingredients
- substitute bacon or breakfast sausage for ham
- garlic powder
- dried of fresh basil
- crushed red pepper
- top with sliced scallions
- add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese
How to Make Deep Dish Breakfast Pizza
You can easily make homemade dough but when you are short on time a store bought dough is your best friend! Preheat oven to 450°F or 500°F if your oven will go that high.
- Since we’re making deep dish, spread the dough into an oiled cast iron skillet or ovenproof pan.
- Cover and let it rise/ rest for about 5 minutes. Break eggs into a small bowl. Add salt and black pepper and beat with a fork until well beaten.
- Pour egg mixture into the center of the dough. Spread it out with a spoon so it covers evenly. Cover the eggs with a few slices of deli ham.
- Core and thinly slice an apple. Add to top of pizza.
- Add 3 slices of torn American cheese.

Place skillet in preheated oven. Bake for 15- 20 minutes, depending on the maximum temperature your oven reaches, until cheese and crust is nice and brown and filling is bubbly. Let rest 5 minutes before cutting.
