Shrimp Crab Dip for Crudités – Dairy Free
This Shrimp Crab Dip for Crudités is gluten free and dairy free. It is economical and only takes about 5 minutes to put together.

I find there is no course that is more difficult to transform into dairy and gluten free than appetizers! You know, all of the gooey cheesy filled puff pastry, the queso dips, cream cheese and sour cream based dips, etc.
With all of the new dairy free and gluten free products that are available in the grocery stores now, it is so much easier to be on a restrictive diet than it was even ten years ago.
What you need
- canned shrimp – just by a small, cheap can. The tiny shrimp are fine. You can substitute fresh cooked salad shrimp chopped into fine pieces. (You can use a food processor to make this step effortless.)
- canned crab meat – buy a can in the same aisle as canned tuna. It’s very cheap. You can use cooked lump crab meat or even imitation crab meat too. Chop it into fine pieces.
- 6 oz cream cheese, vegan style – We like a tofu based cream cheese
- mayonnaise – Use good quality Hellmann’s or Duke’s. Don’t use salad dressing. You can make your own too.
- garlic powder – you can also use fresh, grated cloves garlic
- green onion – green tops only.
- fresh parsley – finely chopped

How to make it
- Soften cream cheese on counter for at least an hour to get it to room temperature.
- Prepare green onion and parsley. Drain crab and shrimp.
- Add all ingredients to a small mixing bowl. Mix well. Mash the cream cheese with the back of your spoon so that it all incorporates. You can also use a hand mixer if you’d like to make it creamier.

This dip can be made with just shrimp, just crab or both, depending on what you have in the house!
Spoon the dip into your serving dish. Refrigerate for one hour to let the flavors mature. Serve with chopped vegetables or crudités, se below for suggestions.

How to serve it
Serve this easy appetizer with lots of different things to hold all of that seafood goodness.
- carrots
- celery
- cherry or grape tomatoes
- sliced bell pepper
- blanched or grilled asparagus
- green onion
- blanched broccoli
- crackers – serve with your favorite
- sturdy chips like tortilla chips
- toasted baguette slices or toasted fresh bread slices
- bagel chips
Why should you make this dip?
- Incredibly easy
- Only 5 minutes to prepare.
- Great for last minute company stopping by.
- Economical
- Keto, Dairy free, Gluten free.
This Shrimp Crab Dip – Dairy free is so quick and easy to make! Therefore, I used half of the can of shrimp and crab! Just soften the cream cheese, mix the rest of the ingredients in a bowl. Then let it chill for at least an hour to allow the flavors to mingle!

Binky, you are a seafood magician. I love this idea for gluten and dairy free starter. It is soo delicious that I will make it even if we don’t have any allergy
Haha! Thank you Laura! You can make it with cream cheese, since you have no allergies!
This sounds so delicious I can just imagine you eating it all by itself! I think I’d be tempted to do that too.
Yes, I am guilty! I shouldn’t have admitted that, should I have? 🙂 Thanks Corina!
Haha! Peeling shrimp can be a pain for sure! Thanks for your comment, Aleka!
A dairy free version of crab dip? Ohhhhh my. This could be a game changer! I love gooey creamy cheesy crab dip, but there are a few dairy free people in our circle too.
Thanks, Jeni! Yes it’s tough for the lactose intolerant folks!
I love crab dip and this is even better with shrimp in it. I could snack on appetizers all day long and be a happy girl
I’m the same way, Dahn! I’m crazy about appetizers! Thanks for your comment!

It’s tough for the lactose intolerant! Not as tough as it used to be, but you literally have to watch everything you eat!
