    It seems like since mid August, or earlier, I have been seeing Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Pumpkin Spiced Cookies, Cakes, shakeology, (whatever that is), and whatever else people can think of! I’m sorry, I do not want to hear about pumpkins until the weather turns cooler and crisp! That’s the time to search out the perfect pumpkin- not when it is 95°F with a dew point over 70. I just can’t do it! Now, is the time for pumpkin spiced everything you can think of!

    If you have searched for Pumpkin Pie Spice on the spice aisle at your local grocer, you know that it is not cheap! The spice islands one I looked at the other day was 7 dollars for 2 oz! That is $56 per pound!!

    Don’t do it! Chances are that you have all of the spices you need at home. The only one you may not have is Allspice, and you can easily just eliminate that!

      Do yourself a favor and save some money in the process, make your own spice mixes! They take less than 5 minutes to put together and are a great use- up for your spices, before they get stale! Pumpkin Pie Spice is simply made of;
    1. Cinnamon
    2. Ginger
    3. Allspice
    4. Nutmeg
    5. Cloves

      I completely agree, it really isn’t worth buying ready blended as it is expensive, and you end up with a large amount sitting around the rest of the year. Plus I always have the components anyway. Looks like a great blend.

      I don’t normally like to buy spice blends so this recipe I definitely need to try. I have almost all of those spices now so I think I’m going try this soon.

      I do make my own pumpkin pie spice — for exactly the reasons you pointed out — it’s ridiculously expensive and I already have everything I need to make it at home. Great minds think alike, Beth!

      This is a great recipe to keep on hand. I always have all of these ingredients but always buy the pre-made spice. Gonna try this when it runs out!
