Chili Cheese Dogs are an easy lunch or dinner for any day of the week. Topped with spicy chili, melty cheese and fresh onions, you just can’t beat the flavor.
Brown the hot dogs on the grill or in a frying pan or air fryer.
Heat the chili in the microwave or in a saucepan on the stovetop. For a full recipe for the chili, see our article, Chili for a crowd.
Toast the buns. Grate the cheese.
Place a hot dog in a toasted bun. Top with chili and grated cheese. Melt the cheese in an air fryer or under the broiler for a minute.
Garnish with diced onion and sliced jalapeños.
Notes
Use top-sliced hot dog buns. They'll contain the chili better than side-cut.Make the chili a day ahead for a quick meal. Store it in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
