About Binky’s Culinary Carnival
Hi! I’m Beth Neels, aka Binky! I wanted to give you a little information about Binky’s Culinary Carnival! Firstly, Welcome! Thanks for stopping by! My big brother gave me the nickname “Binky” before I could walk and a few moons later, he still calls me Binky, for better or worse! Hence the Goofy name! Coming into this blog thing late limits your choice of names.
I love to cook! Any kind of cooking. From baking to canning to back yard parties, you name it. So I thought ‘Carnival’ indicated an appropriate conglomeration of treats!
Farm To Table
I have a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Ornamental Horticulture. My knowledge of plants is used to grow a plethora of great fruits and vegetables in the summer. I begin planning my garden for the year in January and then start the planting seeds in February and March, that will end up in my garden in May!
From my garden I make all sorts of delicious recipes, there is a huge canning section on BCC. Some of the most popular canning recipes are Pickled Peppers, Fermented Hot Sauce, Strawberry Jam and Blackberry Syrup. Making special treats, like this Yellow Plum Sorbet and Rhubarb Pie is so rewarding when you know that all of your produce is organic. I also make most our weekly dinners using ingredients from my garden! Garlic Scape Butter, Chicken with Grilled Plums are among the favorites. We also have lots of Summer picnics on the patio so the Grilled Brie with Balsamic Strawberries, Pea Salad and Corn and Black Bean Salsa recipes are very handy, if you are planning a summer get together with friends and family! Field To Table
My boys, husband and 2 sons, love to hunt. We all love to fish (I can outfish the guys on a good day! 🙂 ) For this reason, I also have an entire section of the blog that focuses on “Field To Table” Recipes that are made with fresh ingredients that we hunt and fish for. Some of those favorite recipes include; Venison Stew, Whole Stuffed Rainbow Trout, and Venison Sausage.
Binky’s Culinary Carnival has had the privilege of being featured in various online publications, including; MSN.com, Buzzfeed, Honest Cooking Magazine, Taste of Home Magazine, Foodgawker, Tastespotting, Yummly, Bloglovin’, Shutterstock, Foodista and Dishing with Delishes podcast, among many others.
Working with great clients has been a particular joy! Highlighting on a top quality product and developing a special recipe to showcase that product, has become a great love. Some of these high quality brands include; Argo Corn Starch, PAM Cooking Spray, Mazola Corn Oil, FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing System, Silk Almond Milk and Gorton’s Fish Sticks.
I will help you answer the age old question, “What’s for dinner?” With unique, fresh recipes. Sharing useful tips that save me time and money, is a priority.
